The British Council will use the information you are providing to us so we can process your registration and manage your participation on the Aptis Ready and Aptis ESOL Ready online courses. The legal basis we rely on to use your information is that this processing is necessary to deliver the service under our Terms of Use.
We will not use your personal data for any other purposes and only share it with our trusted supplier based in Taiwan for the provision of the online course platform. We adequately protect your information as required by applicable law and have put in place additional contractual safeguards in the form of Standard Contractual Clauses approved by UK and EU regulators, which require the use of appropriate technical and organisations measures to ensure the security of your personal information.
The British Council complies with the UK Data Protection Act 2018, incorporating the UK GDPR and laws in other countries that meet internationally accepted standards.
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold on you, and the right to ask us to correct any inaccuracies in that information. If you have concerns about how we have used your personal information, you also have the right to complain to a privacy regulator. We will take steps to delete your personal information when it is no longer needed. We will remove the data of users who have not logged in for 12 months and have also not contributed comments or content to the website.
